The approx. 1000 sqm property is situated at the northern city limits of Berlin, in Glienicke / Nordbahn. The specific characteristics of the site stipulated by local building regulations allow a narrow building to the street and an elongated volume in the depth, to leave the former German-German border on the premises visible and free of any built mass. In close collaboration with the client, SPAR*K designed a 185 sqm single-family home which both will serve the family’s demands now and in the future:
– a barrier-free ground floor accessible with a wheel chair
– on the first floor, the children’s bedrooms are connected via a perforated play wall that can easily be closed later on, a playing hall relocated the common children’s space.
– Central space of the home is the open living room oriented to the garden with kitchen, bay window, fireplace and connected terrace which can be integrated into the living room by opening the large window doors.
The building will be constructed as a sustainable timer-frame construction following current low energy standards.
